Two SIMs from different carriers sit in the router and it moves to whichever has signal, so the dead spot has to be dead on both networks before anyone notices. When that happens the connection drops but the portal does not: cached ads keep playing, the impression is still counted for the advertiser, and the passenger sees a status message rather than a browser error. Service resumes on its own when the vehicle comes back into coverage.
